Aluminium seminar an industry hit

This year's seminar was held in response to the positive feedback from the previous one

FOLLOWING a successful aluminium technology seminar four years ago, metallurgical and mining solutions provider Spectrum Technical last week hosted a similar seminar for professionals in the aluminium primary and secondary industries in Richards Bay.

Open to delegates from around the world, the idea was to bring primary and secondary aluminium casting professionals together to share their knowledge and expertise.

‘This year more than 90 delegates attended, an increase of more than 50% on our previous seminar,’ said Spectrum Technical Director, Kumaran Poonan.

‘We were very pleased with this response and it indicates the great need for professionals in our industry to participate in such a forum.’

International speakers delivered industry-relevant papers, which sparked much discussion and conversation.

Speakers included Dave Roth of GPS Solutions (USA), Francois Mousseau and Mathieu Pettersen of Stas Inc (Canada), Nicklas Kacker of Drache (Germany), Jonatan Lindstrand of Precimeter Control (Sweden) and Giovanni Magarotto of Tomorrow Technology (Italy).

Mark Krieg of the Aluminium Federation of Southern Africa delivered the keynote speech, which addressed the current trends within the aluminium industry.

‘Our seminar left the delegates with practical tools and knowledge to assist them with plant issues they are facing,’ said Spectrum Technical’s Gus Allan.

‘The networking aspect also meant they made contact with their counterparts in other companies.’
