No leads yet on missing eSikhaleni toddler

Still no trace of the missing Samukelo (2) from eSikhaleni

ALTHOUGH no leads have yet surfaced regarding missing eSikhaleni toddler Samukelo Manqele (2), his brave grandmother believes the power of prayer will soon bring the boy safely home.

Weeks after Samukelo vanished without a trace, 37-year-old granmother Zanele Mhlongo is still keeping the candle of hope burning that her grandson will be found alive.

Speaking to the Zululand Observer on Wednesday, Mhlongo said God will answer her daily prayers and will return the boy to her comforting hands.

‘I haven’t lost hope. I pray every day.’

Young Samukelo disappeared from their home at eMabuyeni Reserve three weeks ago.

He was last seen playing with a wheelbarrow with other children in the area.

The toddler was under the care of his grandmother since his mother was brutally raped, killed and dumped in a forest two years ago.

The boy’s mother also disappeared from their home while doing her laundry and was later found by a neighbour in a pine forest.

Even though Mhlongo lost her daughter and now has to deal with the disappearance of Samukelo, the strong-willed mother and grandmother said she won’t rest until all possibilities in finding her only grandchild have been pursued.

‘I hope whoever has him will be touched and that God will reach into their hearts and make them bring my boy home. I just wish I had a clue where he is and every day I pray someone will come with a note or something which will lead us to him.

‘I fear for him. I wonder if he is receiving proper meals and is protected from the cold The boy is allergic to many things which can trigger some illnesses.
