A NONGOMA schoolboy is on the run after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend in what appears to have been a lovers’ quarrel.
The incident occurred in the Ngodini area, Ezibayeni, on Wednesday as the victim was returning home from school.
According to KwaMsane SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, the girl was waiting at the Nkomeni bus stop when her ex-boyfriend approached her.
Accusing the girl of being in love with someone else while still in a relationship with him, the suspect then stabbed her.
The victim was initially taken to Macabuzela Clinic, from where she was later transferred to Hlabisa Hospital.
Both the victim and suspect are reportedly learners at Bonga High School.
Ezibayeni detectives have opened a case of attempted murder.
