Rubbish at the Nordale landfill site in Mtubatuba was on Friday caught on camera blowing out of the site’s open gate at a great rate of knots.
The Mtubatuba resident who filmed the rubbish flying out of the site visited the dump on a few occasions to deliver his own refuse’What is the point of this palisade fencing if the gate is left open for all the rubbish to just blow out?’ he asked.
‘There are people who work at the site, why do they not close the gate when they can see the wind blowing the rubbish out onto the street, and open it only when people need to get in and out of the site?’
The issue was reported to an employee of the Mtubatuba Municipality’s technical department, who said he would ensure the matter was dealt with as a matter of urgency.
