New hospital to open in October

The hospital will offer a multidisciplinary service

COMPLETION of the Melomed Private Hospital at the John Ross Eco-Junction is expected within the next two months.

Group Marketing and Public Relations Manager of Melomed Hospital Holdings, Randal Pedro, told the ZO that although the hospital must first undergo a series of inspections by the Department of Health and Safety, they remain on schedule to open their doors on 1 October.

The hospital will offer a multidisciplinary service including, among others, the following disciplines:

• 24 hour emergency unit

• Radiology

• Pathology

• Internal medicine

• Orthopedic surgery

• General surgery

• Obstetrics and gynaecology

• Pediatrics

• Ear, nose and throat surgery

• Cardiology

• Ophthalmology

• Oncology

• Dentistry

• Urology

• Spinal orthopedic surgery

• Neonatal intensive care unit

Perdo further noted that the hospital will have 194 beds, which include a 10-bed intensive care unit, 12-bed high care unit, four operating theatres, a dedicated obstetric and gynecology theatre situated in the maternity ward, and a dedicated endoscopy suite.

And while the hospital is close to completion, the one question on everyone’s lips remains – why orange?

‘The orange is part of our corporate colours as stipulated in our corporate brand identity manual and has no special reference other than being part of our Melomed brand,’ said Pedro.
