Attempted break-in while family at home

The Louis Botha Avenue resident said the incident occurred on Women’s Day

AN Empangeni resident has been left feeling bitter and angry after four suspects attempted to break into his home while his family was asleep.

Speaking to the Zululand Observer, on condition of anonymity, the Louis Botha Avenue resident said the incident occurred on Women’s Day.

‘It was around 3.30am and my wife got up after some unusual sounds had woken her.

‘I told her to go back to sleep because I thought it was a rat in the ceiling or something.

‘She wasn’t convinced and went into the lounge.’

According to the resident, his wife drew the curtain to further investigate the noise.

‘She saw four intruders at our front door and immediately pressed the panic button.

‘They fled the scene on foot out the back gate,’ he said.

Nite Owl Security members were quickly on scene and discovered that the lock on the back gate had been cut.

‘We caught them on camera but you cannot see their faces.

‘My wife is not doing so well and is quite distraught after the incident.

‘The fact they seemed to know their way around our yard worries us,’ the home owner said.
