ANC KZN calls on members, supporters not to participate on social media

The ANC in KZN has called on its members and supporters not to participate on social media

The ANC Provincial Executive Committee in KZN has called on its members and supporters not to participate on social media and furthering divisions within the party.

This comes after members and supporters voiced their anger on social media regarding the decision by some ANC MPs to vote with opposition parties in the motion of no confidence againast President Jacob Zuma earlier this week.

‘It is understandable that the decision of some ANC members in the National Assembly to vote with the opposition parties has caused disappointment.

‘The position of the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal is that the National Executive Committee should act against any member found to have betrayed the position of the ANC,’ ANC KZN spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli said in a statement.

The party in the province said it is aware that a list containing names of some of the ANC MPs has been circulating on social media, something they view as an attempt to further deepen divisions in the ANC National Caucus.

‘We have further noted a media post purported to be from Cde Stanley Moonsamy, a member of the ANC Ethekwini Regional Executive Committee.

‘This post cast serious aspersions on certain ANC MPs without providing credible evidence to support a claim of an amount of R2-billion used to influence voting in the National Assembly.

‘Accordingly, the ANC provincial leadership has directed comrade Stanley to urgently and within 48 hours withdraw and unconditionally apologise for his unfounded assertion,’ Ntuli said. ‘The movement must close ranks and be firm against those furthering divisions.

‘We have faith in the capacity of the office of the Secretary-General, Cde Gwede Mantashe to investigate and discipline all those MPs who betrayed the party line,’ Ntuli said.
