Youngsters hijacked in Richards Bay driveway

Richards Bay youngsters hijacked in early hours of Saturday morning

A WEEK after taking ownership of his new Audi RS3, Richards Bay resident Rico Hippolite was hijacked in a driveway in Arboretum just before 5am on Saturday morning.

According to Hippolite HE was dropping off friends at their home in Frangipani street after a night out at the Tuzi Gazi Waterfront when they were approached by three unknown men in a white vehicle.

The suspects ordered them to lay on the ground and demanded the keys to his vehicle while pointing an object to the back of the driver’s head.

‘We were just standing in the driveway and talking. A minibus taxi first drove down the street and ten minutes later a white vehicle drove up and parked behind us.

‘They walked towards us and were holding something behind their backs and told us to drop to the ground.

‘I can’t be sure that it was a weapon because we did not look at them or see the objects they were carrying.

‘They also took our cellphones and drove off with the vehicle.’

A case was opened at the Richards Bay SAPS and the vehicle has not yet been recovered.
