Schoolgirl’s chilling abuse allegations

Raped twice, school books set alight and now kicked out of school

AFTER she had to endure sexual and emotional abuse from her family for years, a teenage schoolgirl has finally broken the silence to reveal shocking details of her abuse.

The Grade 10 girl from eNdlovini Reserve has found the courage to speak out and report the matter to the police.

The brave victim spoke openly to the Zululand Observer on Tuesday about her ordeal of being brutally raped by her stepfather and school teacher.

She also told police how her family forbade her to attend school and destroyed all her school books.

‘My mother refused to give me the daily bus fare of R14 and I missed a week of school. When I returned after being helped by a friend, I was kicked out of school because I missed too much work,’ she said.

‘The school sent a message to my mother to come and explain, but she refused. Instead I was told to go and look for work.

‘I don’t want to work. I want to study and become something in life. I love education but I’m being denied the thing I want more than anything else.’

The young girl broke down when giving details of how her stepfather took advantage of her in the absence of her mother.

‘I was getting ready for school when he came in and put a cloth around my neck and pushed me onto the ground. He then raped me and left me helpless and crying on the ground.’

The victim also mentioned a more recent rape which, she said, included a former class teacher.

‘I had just left school in the afternoon and he offered to take me home. However, he went to a secluded area and raped me inside his car. I trusted him but he used his powers to abuse me,’

Taking her power back

This young victim found recently found courage to confront her stepfather.

While talking to the man, she secretly recorded their conversation, and according to her, the man confessed to have sexually abused her.

‘This is proof he abused me, and all I want now is justice for the pain they caused me. I want them arrested and I want to go to school and finish matric,’

According to Umlalazi Municipality a case has been verbally reported by the victim to the municipality.

‘We discourage any act of abuse towards young children. This matter is now in the hands of the police and we hope they will their jobs, and that the Department of Education will also intervene,’ said the municipality.
