POLICE have warned owners of equipment being used at night to be careful of hijackings.
This follows an incident last Tuesday when a bakkie and a low-bed truck entered a weigh bridge in the Ndundulu area between Melmoth and Nkwaleni at around midnight.
Four armed suspects entered the control room and demanded the keys for a Bell loader.
They assaulted the operator and forced him to load the Bell onto the low-bed truck.
The operator was dropped off in the Dukunene area outside Empangeni.
An intensive search was carried out between eShowe and Empangeni, but the suspects or the loader could not be found.
