Man murdered for drinking friend’s beer

The 28-year-old murder suspect is expected to apply for bail

A MDUKU man has been remanded into custody at Hluhluwe police station cells after being accused of murdering his friend for stealing his drink.

The incident occurred earlier this month when the two men were drinking isishimeyane, typically considered a low quality beer, at Mduku Reserve on the outskirts of Hluhluwe.

Dalisu Ndlovu (27) reportedly drank Sambulo Innocent Khumalo’s (28) beer without asking.
An argument ensued and Ndlovu apologised.

‘Even so, when Ndlovu later went to the toilet, Khumalo followed him and, while Ndlovu was urinating, Khumalo took out a knife and stabbed him multiple times on the upper body, and ran away,’ said KwaMsane SAPS Communications Officer Captain Jabulani Mdletshe.

Members of the local Community Policing Forum launched a manhunt for Khumalo and arrested him the same day.

He was detained at the Hluhluwe police station cells and made his first court appearance a few days later at Hluhluwe Magistrate’s Court.

He was remanded into custody and is expected to apply for bail.
