Budding artist donates to wildlife

Art on auction for wildlife

YOUNG Kate Brits’ parents both belong to the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife Honorary Officers and they spent many a weekend camping in the KwaZulu-Natal game reserves.

Her father, Kevin, is an electrician and when he donates his skills he always takes his family with him, thus giving them a passion for wildlife and its conservation.

Kate, who lives in Richards Bay, was given a photograph of a White Rhino cow and calf cooling off on a very hot day in the iMfolozi Game Reserve.

Her interpretation of the scene was amazing and prompted the idea of donating the painting towards the protection of wildlife.

Kate’s art teacher, Olivia Maritz, also a passionate supporter of wildlife, has generously donated a painting of African wild dog,s also known as the African painted dogs.

These paintings are both being auctioned on line at www.proxibid.com.

The auction will be concluded with a live auction being held at the Centenary Centre in the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park after the annual Old Mutual Wild Series iMfolozi Challenge MTB race being held on Saturday, 29 July.
