Hang out on the line with a helping hand

Washing lines will be erected in front of the newspaper's offices in Empangeni (Baines Road) and in the open space in front of the City of uMhlathuze municipal offices in Richards Bay

THE countdown for the Zululand Observer’s annual ‘Hang out with Madiba’ campaign has begun and the public can prepare to hang out their donations of clothing, blankets and soft toys on Tuesday, 18 July.

Washing lines will be erected in front of the newspaper’s offices in Empangeni (Baines Road) and in the open space in front of the City of uMhlathuze municipal offices in Richards Bay.

Also erecting lines at their premises are Umhambi Lodge in Meerensee and Zikulise Centre in Empangeni and the public is welcome to drop off donations there as well.

The lines will be operating between 7am and noon.

Please bring pegs along to hang up your laundry of love, which will be distributed via the ZO’s charity arm – DICE (Do I Care Enough?) to needy organisations and disaster management units.

This year the ZO has again partnered with the City of uMhlathuze and the Rotary Clubs of Empangeni and Richards Bay to ensure that Zululanders devote 67 minutes of their lives in a novel and charitable way.

Mtunzini Rotary has also come on board and will have a line erected in front of the Mtunzini Primary School in Hely Hutchinson Drive between 8.30am to noon on Tuesday.

Companies are also welcome to put up their own lines and drop the clothing off at the ZO afterwards for distribution.
