House robbery concerns in Mtunzini

Police concerned over house robbery increase

POLICE patrol vans have been deployed in Mtunzini to curb the increase of house robberies in the area.

According to SAPS spokesperson Lt Sbusiso Guma,, perpetrators commonly kick down house doors while occupants are sleeping at night.

‘Our reports shows that culprits target homes without any burglar bars or security. They force the doors open and rob residents of their belongings. This has raised concerns, and we are determined to end this crime wave,’ he said.

Guma also urged residents to implement effective security measures including burglar bars and alarm systems.

He also encouraged unity among neighbours.

‘Residents must always have each other’s backs. If their neighbours are not at home, people must be vigilant to watch each other’s homes,’

‘The Crime Prevention Unit is watching the area closely. We are want to make sure our communities are safe and that offenders are put behind bars.’
