Winter blankets for the needy

60 homeless and needy recipients each walked away with a warm winter blanket

THURSDAY evening was the turn of the NG Kerk in Arboretum to facilitate the soup kitchen, which is held outside the City of uMhlathuze municipal building.

After the church received a generous blanket donation, it was able to hand out more than soup and bread, as the 60 homeless and needy recipients each walked away with a warm winter blanket.

‘This is going to keep me nice and warm during the cold nights, I am very grateful,’ said George Ndlaze, one of the recipients.

Pastor Goosen Thompson from the church said that, as the previous soup kitchen venue is no longer available, they are looking for an alternative, indoor venue to hold the soup kitchen.

Anyone who is able to provide one can contact the church directly.
