THE Empangeni Educare Centre has joined many people hoping and praying for a miracle for three-year-old Miané Ainslie, a three-year-old who survived a near drowning experience at 19 months old.
The centre has been selling raffle tickets to raise funds for medical care for little Miané, who almost lost her life after falling into a porta pool at her grandmother’s house in Witbank in November 2015.
The little girl was believed to have been in the water for approximately 10 minutes before she was pulled out by her grandmother, who performed CPR until an ambulance arrived.
Miané had no heartbeat for 23 minutes and after being resuscitated, spent a month in hospital.
Despite surviving the horrific ordeal, Miané now suffers from various medical conditions, which include epilepsy, and her mother has incurred about R500 000 in medical costs.
Empangeni Educare Centre owner Sandra Kendall says they were emotionally moved by the little girl’s story and have since raised about R4 000 to help her mother, who is unemployed.
‘Her mom doesn’t work because she has chosen to look after Miané full-time.
Miané’s mother Claudette, who shares her story and her daughter’s recovery on her Facebook page ‘A Miracle for Miané Ainslie’, says through regular physiotherapy, the little girl’s ‘movements have improved and she is able to turn her head, make eye contact and is learning to drink again.’
