Gert van Rooyen missing girls search resumes at Blythdale Beach

‘I have hope – but I am a realist.’

The words of Natasha Boucher (43), oldest sister of one of the six girls who went missing nearly 30 years ago, believed to have been abducted by the infamous paedophile Gert van Rooyen.

She was speaking to the ZO from Blythedale Beach on Wednesday afternoon, where forensic officers were excavating a sand dune outfall pipeline where, new information suggests, at least one of the girl’s bodies may lie buried.

Natasha spoke wistfully of the day in which her sister Odette (11) went missing in 1989 while on her way to the public pool with another of the abducted girls.
