Cupcake fund-raiser drive supports Operation Smile

Leapfrog Property Group Richards Bay hosted a cupcake fund-raiser

ON a mission to raise funds to provide corrective cleft lip and palate surgery for 100 children, Leapfrog Property Group Richards Bay hosted a cupcake fund-raiser last Friday and sold more than 200 cupcakes for its nationwide ‘Leapfrog Smiles: To the Power of 10’ campaign.

In part of its 10th anniversary celebration, the property group has partnered with Cipla Foundation South Africa and extreme adventurer David Grier to support the ‘Miles for Smiles’ initiative, which raises money for Operation Smile.

‘Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate, and is often unable to eat, speak, socialise or smile,’ said Leapfrog Property Group Managing Director, Bruce Swain. ‘These debilitating disabilities can be corrected with surgery lasting as little as 45 minutes, enabling these children to lead normal lives with beautiful smiles.’

Over the past 10 years Miles for Smiles has raised R8-million, enabling more than 2 000 children to receive surgery.
