WATCH: Thula Thula rhinos dehorned

Rhinos tagged and trimmed for safety

TWO of Thula Thula Private Game Reserve’s most prized possessions, eight-year-old rhinos Ntombi and Thabo, recently had their horns trimmed.

They were also fitted with collar tracking devices.

This formed part one of many measures to tighten up security within the reserve by ensuring that the rhinos are safe and poachers are deterred.

Wildlife Veterinarian Mike Toft conducted the procedure, which was quick and painless for both rhinos.

The rhino horns were then transported to an undisclosed location for safe keeping.
