Training equips youth with employable skills

NRB Youth Development focuses on equipping unqualified youth with relevant skills to help them attain employment

THANKS to a joint effort between two non-profit organisations in the Richards Bay area, the youth of eNseleni last week underwent five days of intensive life skills and job readiness training to help catapult them into a life of employment.

With the assistance of eNseleni-based Future Youth Development, headed by Zweli Ntuli, and Mandlazini-based NRB Youth Development, headed by Aubrey Mdluli, 40 unemployed people between the ages of 18 and 35 received training.

‘The core purpose of the programme was to equip candidates with the appropriate mindset and attitude, along with some basic job skills, to function well in a work environment,’ said Mdluli.

‘Our main aim was to empower the youth of eNseleni to become employable.

‘Those who successfully complete the training are rewarded with an opportunity to undertake work experience in stores around Richards Bay for their six or seven days post-training work experience.

Last week’s training follows a similar successful workshop held last year in Mandlazini Agri Village.

This resulted in some of the 35 youngsters from Mandlazini benefitting through employment at local retail stores.
