NRCIU to deal with rural crimes and farm attacks

‘We want to provide support for people who find themselves victims of attacks in rural areas'

APPROXIMATELY 300 farm attacks, which included 37 murders, have been reported in South Africa so far this year.

This is according to information provided to the Zululand Observer by the African Farmers’ Association of South Africa (AFASA) and the Transvaal Agriculture Union (TAU).

Rural communities are becoming despondent about the level of criminal activities in their areas.

It was with these figures in mind that the National Rural Crime Intervention Unit (NRCIU) was launched in Richards Bay at the weekend.

The NRCIU is a volunteer-based NGO which aims to provide world-class integrated rural crime intervention and prevention services to farmers, as well as anti-poaching and wildlife security entities throughout the country.
