Repair of Mtuba’s rural roads a priority

The already poor state of eZwenelisha's roads was worsened after recent heavy rains in the region

BRINGING much damage to infrastructure, recent rains in our region have all but destroyed the roads in eZwenelisha, within the Mtubatuba Municipality, rendering them impassable.

On a recent site visit, Ward 5 Councillor Ndumiso Zuma, together with uMkhanyakude District Mayor Solomon Mkhombo and the Department of Transport (DoT) Hluhluwe Cost Centre determined the extent of the damage and put a plan in place.

‘After the DoT sent its officials to inspect and measure the damage, it was agreed that they would begin the road repairs this week,’ said Zuma.

‘As for the long term plan, the contractor will start before the end of this month to re-gravel all eZwenelisha’s roads as part of the Dukuduku On-site Resettlement Programme (DORP).’
