KZN MEC for Arts and Culture, Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi, on Thursday launched the ‘Culture Thursdays’ campaign at the University of Zululand’s KwaDlangezwa
campus.
The campaign is aimed at promoting social cohesion among diverse cultures across the province.
The launch began with a cultural parade, with the MEC leading different groups of people donning their traditional attire.
Sounds of jubilation filled the campus as the different cultural groups sang traditional songs, walking from the main entrance to the King Bhekuzulu Hall where the launch was held.
‘This launch will serve as a springboard for people to engage one another and appreciate diverse cultures while preserving their own,’ said Sithole-Moloi.

The ‘Culture Thursdays’ campaign will follow monthly themes, which include showcasing traditional cuisine, attire, exhibitions, sport and conducting lectures in relevant fields.
Sithole-Moloi added that it was fitting that the launch of the campaign coincides with the year of Oliver Reginald Tambo.
‘OR Tambo always amplified the call for Africans to unite and that South Africa belongs to all who live in it regardless of their origin.’
