WATCH: Major accident at Nyoni on the N2 brings traffic to a standstill
Three people have died in two separate accidents on the N2 near Nyoni
TWO major accidents on the N2 near Nyoni (bridge 12) between Mandeni and Amatigulu have brought traffic to a standstill.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue, the latest accident has seen the N2 northbound lane completely closed and traffic backed up for almost 12km on the lane heading southbound towards Durban.
‘One patient has been successfully extradited from a minibus taxi, sadly though another patient, who was entrapped in the same vehicle, has succumbed to his injuries.
‘Multiple other vehicles have been involved; there are approximately ten patients on scene.
‘RTI are in attendance,’ said IPSS’s Paul Herbst.
Women driven over
Earlier this evening, two female pedestrians were knocked down and driven over by multiple vehicles on the same stretch near Nyoni.
Traffic had to be redirected to Mandeni and then onto the R102.
Numerous medical teams were alerted to the incident shortly after 6pm.
