A KWAMTHOLE Reserve woman and two others were accosted and raped by men pretending to offer them lifts to Pongola last week.
According to the police report the KwaMthole woman, hitchhiking at Nkodibe crossing, was offered a lift by the driver of a Corolla and found two other women and two men inside the vehicle.
Along the way the car had a puncture.
They were then picked up by a driver in an Avanza, who promised to take them to their destination in Pongola.
When they arrived at Mkuze, the driver took an unfamiliar route, saying he was going to fetch someone from Hluhluwe.
Apparently he then drove into the bushes, where the women were taken to separate locations, tied up with rope, and raped at gunpoint by the men throughout the night and the next day.
They were also robbed of their belongings and cellphones.
The following day the KwaMthole woman was driven back to Mtubatuba, and dropped near where she was picked up.
Cases of rape and robbery is being investigated by the Mtuba police.
