‘THROUGH God’s power, we will rebuild our lives – one brick at a time,’
Three weeks after a mystery fire ripped through their eSikhaleni home and left them destitute, the Jele family’s strong faith was reassured last week.
Led by the light of faith, this brave family of seven saw a glimpse of hope when they received building materials, courtesy of a local church and warmhearted local residents.
Not only was this a beginning of a new chapter filled with hopes of a serene life, for this family it was a positive sign they will soon rise from the ashes.
‘Some people donated material and a close family friend volunteered to help us build. This is not even close to what we need but we pray the Lord will look after us,’ said 31-year-old victim, Nomzamo Mncube.
Nomzamo, her 49-year-old mother, two sisters and three young children miraculously escaped giant flames after the fire broke out in their house.
They helplessly watched as the house at Reserve 18 was reduced to ashes and were only left with their nightwear as the blaze destroyed all their belongings.
On Thursday, emotions also ran high when the Zululand Observer charity arm, DICE (Do I Care Enough?) also donated plenty of clothing, blankets and other household goods to help the family.
‘God will always see us through this difficult period,’ said family leader and grandmother, Lindeni Jele (49).
‘The principal at Skhulangemfundo School has managed to buy my other daughter’s school uniform and my child can now attend school,’
Plea for help is heard
Since the Zululand Observer published the article about the tragic incident which left this family of seven destitute, compassionate residents have opened their hearts to help them rebuild their lives.
However, even though kindhearted Zululanders have started to rally to support the family, and with donations already starting to pour in, this family still needs help.
‘As we start building, we still need more materials such as cement, doors, windows and some house furniture.
‘At the moment we don’t even have a cupboard; we have to put our dishes on the floor,’ said Lindeni.
