ANC Musa Dladla Region welcomes economic boost

ANC Musa Dladla region welcomes economic boost for Richards Bay

ANC Musa Dladla Region called a press briefing on Thursday in Richards Bay, with a threefold agenda.

They welcomed the announcement of the R4.5-billion investment at the Richards Bay Industrial Zone, the removal of the uMthonjaneni Municipal Manager by GOGTA MEC Nomusa Dube- Ncube, as well as the unveiling of the Siyabakhumula project.

Regional Secretary Tholi Gwali said monopoly capital remains the main enemy of revolution and a balance must be struck that ensures urgent implementation measures of changing the ownership, control and management of the economy, working with business, labour and other sectors of society.

‘The Regional Executive Committee (REC) will convene a procurement indaba as resolved by the regional lekgotla for engagement on the regulations being developed to boost small and township businesses.

‘We welcome the partnership involving RBIDZ and Nyanza Light Metals and New Zealand-based company, Avertana Ltd.

‘Five hundred and fifty permanent jobs will be created when the Nyanza plant is operational and 1 200 indirect and 800 direct jobs will be created during construction,’ said Gwala.

The REC welcomed the decision taken by Cogta MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube to reverse the appointment of Municipal Manager (MM) at Mthonjaneni as the MM did not meet the minimum requirement as per the municipality structures act.

Gwali also highlighted the Siyabakhumbula Programme, a project commemorating the heroes and heroines of the ANC in the Musa Dladla Region, initiated by former Regional Chairperson, the late Thulani Mashaba.

The aim is to acknowledge those who died during the violent outbreak in the 90’s and to erect tombstones at their final resting place as a sign of respect.

The first phase has 145 beneficiaries and the main event is set to take place on 23 April at the University of Zululand.
