Entries pour in for fishing competition

Over one hundred enthusiastic anglers have entered for the weekend

WITH loads of great prizes and cash up for grabs at the 39th annual Richards Bay Fishing Bonanza hosted by the Richards Bay Ski Boat Club this weekend, it makes no sense not to load one’s tackle and bait boxes and enter the popular competition.

Over one hundred enthusiastic anglers have entered for the weekend, with hopes of hooking and landing a monster fish that will earn the coveted first place prize and bragging rights for 2017.

The deep sea winner will drive home with a brand new Sea Cat powered by 60hp Yamaha engines sponsored by Richards Bay Yamaha, with the Bay winner walking away with a decent cash prize.

There is also a R60 000 cash prize luring anyone who lands the biggest Marlin over the Easter weekend.

Entries cost R570 for deep sea and R350 for the Bay competition, with entries closing at 6am on Saturday morning.

For locals not wanting to get hands full of bait, there is plenty of entertainment and non-fishing activities planned for the entire family.

Friday will have flea market stalls, face painting, Easter egg hunt and the coveted Miss Bonanza competition.

For all fish lovers, weigh-in is scheduled every day from 2pm onwards.

The weekends festivities will wrap up on Sunday evening at the prize-giving ceremony scheduled for 7pm.
