Burglars strike Richards Bay residential properties

Criminals targeted a Veldenvlei property this week and escaped with television sets, appliances, electronic equipment and power tools

BRAZEN criminals targeted a Veldenvlei property this week and escaped with television sets, appliances, electronic equipment and power tools.

According to Richards Bay SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Debbie Ferreira, the owner reported he had secured his premises before going to bed on Monday night.

‘When the complainant woke up at 4am, he found a door had been forced open and his property stolen,’ she said.

In a separate and unrelated incident, a Wildenweide resident managed to foil a house robbery in progress on Tuesday morning and the suspect was apprehended.

While fetching a drink from the kitchen at about 8am, a family member saw a shadow in one of the bedrooms and upon investigation, found a suspect hiding in the cupboard.

When he was confronted, the suspect, a minor, drew a knife but was apprehended without having caused any injury to the resident.
