THE residents of Riverview, Mtubatuba are furious about what they call a ‘dumping mess‘ in front of a large house, in the vicinity of the Umfolozi Country Club.
According to the complainants, the refuse dumping has been going on for months unabated, and they allege their complaints for the owners to clean up have fallen on deaf ears.
They further claim the Mtubatuba Municipality does nothing to rectify the situation either.
‘People using the country club and its restaurant have to drive past this disgusting mess.
‘The club and the restaurant are patronised not only by local people, but also visitors from further afield and overseas tourists,’ the complainants said.
The Mtubatuba Municipality Operations & Maintenance: Manager Nathaniel Sawyerr said, ‘The municipality knows nothing about this as no one has ever alerted us about the matter.
‘Our municipal employees, when asked to look at the problem, told us there was no refuse dumping at the site mentioned.
‘The only kind of dirt they found was some ‘monkey business’, and they cleaned it up,’ said Sawyerr.
