Aquadene library a community asset

The library will be hosting local primary and high schools, as well as pre-schools this week to mark South African Library Week

THE Aquadene community library will be hosting local primary and high schools, as well as pre-schools this week to mark South African Library Week.

Learners will take a tour of the new state-of-the-art facility which opened in July and which also incorporates a computer centre and group activity rooms.

Librarian Zinhle Buthelezi said the Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA) is celebrating South African Library Week with the theme ‘My Library, Your Library’ and sub-themes:

‘My Library, My Home’, ‘Mind your Library’ and ‘Tell me about your Library’.

‘We will share information of how the library operates and encourage our community to utilise our services.

‘The library is a communal space that caters to specific needs, whether these are educational, social, recreational or informative.

‘It is very easy to open a library card and those who have library cards at other libraries within the King Cetshwayo District can use them at ours as well.

Buthelezi encourages people to take libraries to heart and to treat these as their homes, so that destroying libraries and burning books becomes unthinkable.

Inviting the public to visit the Aquadene library during Library Week are staff Sbu Sibiya, Lindiwe Mthiyane, Nonto Mfeka and Zinhle Buthelezi
