Going colourful for cancer awareness

The campaign creates awareness about cancer and raises funds for cancer patient care and support programmes

SHOPPERS visiting the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre over the weekend showed their support for those fighting cancer by spraying and shaving their hair during the CANSA Shavathon campaign.

The campaign creates awareness about cancer and raises funds for cancer patient care and support programmes, at the same time providing the public with an opportunity to go wild with colourful hairdos in commemoration of the 14th Shavathon, which will continue at shopping centres and at workplaces this month.

CANSA uThungulu Region’s Lizzy van Zyl said hosting a Shavathon event at workplaces, places of study or community halls provides a platform for supporters to have a little fun, while bringing important awareness to a serious illness.

‘For a R50 donation (R25 for kids under 12), people can shave or spray their hair.

‘Shavathons will also be held at Pongola and Link Pharmacy at Andrew’s Spar on 4 March and Mustangs Restaurant on 11 March.’

If you would like to register as a Shavathon host, contact the Lizzy van Zyl on 079 1718159.
