Five killed in Sunday morning horror smash
Horrific head-on claims five, including 12-year-old child
FIVE people, including a child, died in a horrific head-on collision on the N2 early Sunday morning.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst, the collision occurred at around 2am near Bridge 16 which is just before Mandeni if travelling towards Durban.
Herbst confirmed the cars involved were a Chevrolet sedan and a GWM Hover SUV.
‘On arrival IPSS medics found that all three occupants of the SUV as well as the driver and a 12-year-old child from the sedan had already succumbed to their critical injuries,’ Herbst on Sunday said.
‘A female passenger was still trapped inside the car in a critical condition.’
‘IPSS Advanced Life Support paramedics treated the woman while Rural Metro Fire Department used the jaws of life to free her from the wreckage.’
According to Herbst the woman was taken to Stanger Hospital where she required CPR by doctors and paramedics shortly after arrival.
‘She remains in a critical condition,’ he said.
