Beach clean-up a big success

Richards Bay resident Annalize Kruger has spearheaded a beach clean-up operation at the Bay Hall area

RICHARDS Bay resident Annalize Kruger has spearheaded a beach clean-up operation at the Bay Hall area following an incident in which children were injured by broken glass recently.

Kruger contacted ward councillor Chris Botha and his committee for assistance and began promoting the operation on social media.

On Saturday morning more than 50 volunteers from across Richards Bay joined forces to clean up the beach area in the vicinity of Bay Hall.

Staff from Easyaccess, Richards Bay Rugby Club players and Zululand Yacht Club management, the Community Tourism Association, Umhambi Lodge and Sailfish Inn also participated.

A total of 210 bags of rubbish and broken bottles were collected and Quinton Reddy of McCarthy Toyota sponsored the transportation of the waste.
