Car crash gets week off to bad start

A terrible start for one Empangeni man who was taken to hospital after his car was T-boned by a delivery truck on Monday morning

THE week got off to a terrible start for one Empangeni man who was taken to hospital after his car was T-boned by a delivery truck on Monday morning.

While details are sketchy, it is understood the man was executing a right turn from Main Road into Tanner Road at the Quality Cars intersection when a truck, travelling from Richards Bay towards Empangeni, smashed into him.

It was not immediately clear at the scene who was at fault.

The driver of the Toyota Avanza and his passenger were taken to Ngwelezana Hospital for treatment, but paramedics at the scene confirmed they did not sustain serious injuries.

The left hand lane was closed for about an hour as emergency services worked to move the car, which had come to a stop against the palisade fence of Quality Cars.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
