LAST week the KwaDukuza Regional Court convicted and sentenced a 69-year-old grandfather to 45 years in prison on three counts of rape.
It was reported in 2014 that two girls aged nine and 11 were left with their grandfather while their mother was at work.
He would call the victims on separate occasions and raped them, until a neighbour caught him in the act and reported the matter to the children’s mother.
The girls confirmed it and the mother opened a rape case with the police.
Another girl (13) came forward, telling her teacher that in 2014 she was repeatedly raped by the grandfather who was her neighbour at the time.
Another rape charge was added to the docket.
