Traffic disruption on John Ross

Traffic underneath the N2 bridge on the John Ross Highway will be affected for the foreseeable future as the project to expand the entire stretch of N2 between Mtunzini and Empangeni has begun

LOCALS mototrists now need to plan their afternoon commute between Richards Bay and Empangeni via the John Ross Parkway.

This comes as construction has started on the South African National Roads Agency’s R946-million project to expand the entire stretch of N2 between Mtunzini and Empangeni, which will eventually be a 14-metre wide, safer dual carriageway.

According to an RTI official, the construction will affect traffic flow on the John Ross Highway for the foreseeable future.

Currently the public will have to adjust their travelling time to accommodate the construction process, which started on Tuesday.

The construction has only affected a small portion of the John Ross (under the N2 bridge) where lanes on either side of the highway have been reduced to one.
