The learner from Ntongande High School in Mzingazi is heading to Durban to study medicine at the University of KZN.

She aced Zulu, English, maths, life orientation, geography, life sciences, physical sciences and tourism.

‘I am very excited about what lies ahead,’ said Sabathile.

‘I have always felt passionate about helping people.

‘I would like to sincerely thank Dr Makhathini, who offered a course between 1 and 22 October with extra lessons for all my subjects, and for giving me the motivation I needed.

‘Without him, I would never have accomplished eight distinctions.

‘I would also like to give a shout out to my brother who was always willing to help me with Maths.

‘But mostly, I thank God.’

Ntongande Principal T Mnqayi applauded her for the achievement.

‘Sabathile has been a wonderful child to work with.

‘She has done consistently well from the lower grades up to grade 12.

‘Her performance in NSC (national senior certificate) 2016 exams will assist all our educators to motivate the class of 2017.’
