THE Khomo Primary School in Nkandla will begin the school year mourning the loss of its principal, who was shot inside her car on the R66 in the Nkwalini area on Monday.
Busisiwe Nzuza (44) was shot in the head by an unknown male passenger after she had offered him a ride from Empangeni.
According to police, the victim was travelling from Empangeni to her home in eShowe with a friend at around 6am when she offered three hitchhikers a
lift.
Nzuza dropped two passengers at eMasangweni.
According to Empangeni SAPS Cluster spokesperson, Capt Mbongeni Mdlalose, the hitman later demanded Nzuza’s car keys before shooting her.
The perpetrator then fled on foot into the nearby forest.
Nzuza died at the scene, but her friend was not harmed.
A huge manhunt is underway.
