How to check your matric results

Results will be made public tomorrow (5 January) at 8am.

MATRIC results will be made public tomorrow (5 January) at 8am – and if you were wondering how to check your results, we’ve found a few easy ways:

1. Internet

You can log on to the Department of Basic Education’s website (www.education.gov.za) where the results will be available from 6am.
You will need to have your exam number handy and the site will ask you for some other personal details, but the process is quick and easy.

2. Newspapers

Most major daily publications (like our sister paper, The Citizen) will carry a printed version of all the results for the various provinces.
But these won’t be your full results, but rather confirmation if you passed and with what symbol: B for Bachelor’s pass and D for Diploma etc.

3. Your school
Your high school will be open at around 8am where you can collect your report, and meet up with your friends.

4. Your cell phone

The SABC will again this year run a SMS service that will send your results straight to your phone. Nifty, right?
This is what you have to do:
• SMS your exam number and ID number to 35658
• There is a once-off cost of R3 when you register
• As soon as the department releases the results, you will get your results via SMS immediately

5. Phone them!

If you are of the more patient sort, you can call the department on 082 152 – but we don’t recommend this one unless you or your mom have lots of airtime.
