Honey for money keeps beekeepers abuzz

KwaMbonambi area graduates received their certificates for completing the African honey bee course.

‘GRADUATES’ from the KwaMbonambi area, who completed the African Honey Bee course recently received their certificates.

Funding for the KZN courses, presented by the African Honey Bee organisation, was sourced from the Government of Flanders in Belgium and channeled through the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).

Local Economic Development Specialist, Stephen Nel of the IDC was present at the awards and wished the bee-keepers well as they start their road to entrepreneurship.

The candidates were taught the basics of bee-keeping using minimal equipment lying around the house.
Using old trousers, net curtaining and other items the beekeepers made low-cost protective clothing and equipment.
