Seven years for rapist

A certain man heard the woman crying and investigated, he found the suspect raping the victim

THE Inkanyesi Regional Court last week sentenced a rape suspect to seven years imprisonment.

Npatho Lwazi Nzuza Lushozi (21) was found guilty for raping a 33-year-old woman in Gingindlovu.

In sentencing, the Inkanyezi magistrate court further declared Lushozi unfit to possess a firearm.

According to police reports, on 14 January at about 7.30pm the victim was on her way back home from Mdluli’s homestead in Gingindlovu when she decided to go via her friend’s homestead.

While she was there, somebody knocked at the door and her friend opened the door.

The man known to her as Mpatho Lwazi Nzuza came in and he did not say anything but gripped the victim, pulling her out of the room, pushed her into sugarcane field where he raped her while she was crying for help.

The accused ran away but the community caught him and the matter was reported to Gingindlovu police and he was arrested.

The docket was handled by Eshowe FCS and the accused remained in custody until 14 December before he was sentenced.
