Drive-by victim's wife on theft charge

THE wife of the man who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting on the John Ross Parkway on 17 October has appeared in court on an unrelated matter.

Sphelele Makhosazane Msimang (30) made a first appearance in the Richards Bay District Court on Thursday in connection with the theft of a Quantum mini bus, reportedly used as an ambulance and valued at
R288 000.

Magistrate La Grange presided, with Prosecutor MS Mdluli and Adv Mbambo acting for the defence.

The accused was remanded in custody and the case was provisonally adjourned to Monday (today) for a bail application.

The complainant was named on the court document as Dr BB Ntibane.

During the funeral of drive-by victim Sibongiseni Msimang on 22 October, a letter allegedly written by the victim before his death was read out to the congregation.

In the letter, it was stated that in the event of him (Sibongiseni Msimang) dying an unnatural death, Dr Ntibane should be investigated.
