New entry requirements at iSimangaliso

The new system will automate some of the current manual systems and assist with security in the park

THE iSimangaliso Wetland Park has announced new procedures at the park’s gates from today (Thursday).

The Bhangazi, Dukukudu, Nhlozi, eMshopi, Ophansi and Sodwana Bay gates will be affected.

The new system will automate some of the current manual systems and assist with security in the park.

On entry, either the visitor’s driver’s licence and car licence will be scanned and the driver will be asked to sign acceptance of the terms and condition of entry.

Car licences will also be scanned at selected points such as St Lucia beaches and Sodwana Bay beach ramps.

Visitors to the park also need to note that alcohol is strictly prohibited in public places and vehicle searches will be conducted at checkpoints.

Gate fees have also increased and the new tariff system can be found on their website www.isimangaliso.com.

There are no card facilities at the gates and visitors can only make cash payments at the gates.

These and other enhanced security features at all gates are for the safety of the visitors, as well as, the animals in the protected areas.
