THE University of Zululand hosted its annual law dinner for final year law students at its Richards Bay campus on Friday.
Keynote speaker, attorney Sifiso Ngcamu, an associate in the litigation department at Tomlison Mnguni James Attorneys in Pietermaritzburg, had words of wisdom to share with the students.
Ngcamu, who completed his LLB degree at Unizulu, said the profession is challenging, but not impossible.
‘There’s nothing that you cannot do. You just have to face your challenges head-on and handle the pressure,’ he said.
‘Unizulu has produced some of the leading legal minds in the country. There is nothing limiting you to become just as successful.’
The alumni of the university includes magistrates, judges and high profile attorneys.
Kanagie Naidoo, Head of the law department, congratulated the students for having made it so far.
‘We wish you every success for the future and we hope that you do us proud by becoming assets to the profession,’ Naidoo said.
Throughout the evening, all students who assisted the community with pro bono legal services were awarded certificates for their contributions to society.
Final year student Sthandiwe Zulu was awarded top achiever award.
