His awareness walks began in 2013 after his friends’ daughters were victims of a violent crime in Jozini

GEARING up for the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence on Women and Children next week, Rape activist Jan Mabuyakhulu will be walking from Richards Bay to Margate raising awareness about the violent acts of crime on women and children.

Departing from Richards Bay CBD on Monday, 21 November, the father of two will walk over 300km, stopping in each town, interacting with community members and motorists and encouraging the public to take a bold stand against perpetrators and help break the cycle of abuse.

Mabuyakhulu will be accompanied by five community members along the route and is seeking sponsorships of accommodation as well as meals and refreshments.

He is also collecting donations to establish a shelter for victims of abuse in Mtubatuba and is inviting the public to support his cause.

His awareness walks began in 2013 after his friends’ daughters were victims of a violent crime in Jozini.

Any donations can be deposited into the following account: SJ Mabuyakhulu, account no. 9191936068, ABSA Bank, and he can be contacted on 079 4370138.
