Recovered kitten doing 'purr'fectly well

THE kitten retrieved from a manhole in Richards Bay after a two hour rescue operation last Friday, is in perfect health and enjoying her stay at the Richards Bay SPCA

Found severely dehydrated in a drain in Via Cassiandra after a motorist was alerted to its cries for help, Richards Bay Inspector Wynand Strauss said the animal has settled in well with the other kittens in the kennels.

After the massive rescue operation to remove the damaged and aged manhole cover, the City of uMhlathuze plumbing department employees together with community members saved the animal.

‘From the moment we took her out of the drain, she was friendly and responsive and it is evident she has been around people and was domesticated.

‘She is available for adoption and anyone interested can contact the office on 035 7532086.
