Greenbelt raid pays dividends

Four wanted suspects netted in greenbelt raid

LAST week’s pre-dawn raid on greenbelts in the Richards Bay CBD and Alton was well worth the effort as four wanted suspects were among the dozens of illegal bush dwellers caught in the net.

SAPS and CRG Security members destroyed informal shacks and took possession of a number of weapons and suspected stolen goods during the swoop.

Among those whose fingerprints later proved to be connected with crimes were two suspects wanted by the Empangeni SAPS – one for a drug offence and the other for shoplifting.

Another shoplifting suspect had been wanted by Richards Bay detectives, while the eSikhaleni police were happy to take into custody a felon for whom a warrant of arrest had been issued.
