Farewell to darts legend

Local darts Springbok checks out

LOCAL darts celebrity Ronnie McEwan passed away suddenly last week after suffering a heart attack shortly after being admitted to hospital.

One of the true characters of the sport, Ronnie achieved many honours during his career, including Springbok colours and a Transnet Sportsman of the Year nomination.

Just hours before his untimely demise on Wednesday evening, Ronnie had participated in the Huletts social league in Empangeni.

Ronnie (60) worked as an artisan at the Port of Richards Bay for many years before entering the private sector, and was employed at Coalfields prior to his passing.

His memorial service will be held at 3pm on Friday at the Zululand Multi Sport Club at Alkantstrand.

A devoted family man, Ronnie leaves his wife Tessie, son Ron, daughter-in-law Tamzen and three grandsons.
