A FOREIGN national, believed to be from Nigeria, was on Wednesday afternoon arrested during a sting operation near his home in Birdswood.
The operation, conducted by members of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) as well as the Empangeni SAPS K9 unit, resulted in the arrest and recovery of a large amount of the illegal drug methcathinone or ‘Cat’ with an estimated street value of R49 000.
It is believed the suspect was out on bail after being arrested in June.
He appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
